I'm in Louisville for the Midwest Archives Conference and got awakened last night by a jolt on my bed. I thought, Man, that feels like an earthquake, but it seemed rather unlikely. Unlikely or not, that's what happened.
[Update: the earthquake has been downgraded from 5.4 to 5.2. I thought it didn't quite feel like a 5.4 ....]

That's amazing! And it must have been pretty scary since you couldn't have been expecting it. Could it have anything to do with whatever caused the New Madrid quake?
No, this quake was centered somewhere between Evansville and Springfield, so I don't think that's the New Madrid fault.
Supposedly people felt it up here in Michigan, too. But we old California hands didn't bother to wake up and notice such a teeny little temblor that far away.
