Or perhaps they're not clueless, but recognizing hindus as an unlikely target audience, they decided it didn't matter if they were offended? Not that this perspective makes them look much better...
I love it! Assuming it is someone's totally twisted sense of humor, like Masami Teraoka and his series on McDonald's Invades Japan.

But, yes, in the cultural context it is a sick, sick idea. Especially if it is a genuine advertisement.
